Highland Park Library Performance

On the 19th of May 2019, Zheng’s Music Studio was invited to perform at Highland Park Library as part of New Zealand Music Month. This event also marked the ninth instalment of the studio’s community outreach series, ‘Guzheng Practice from Morning to Night, Steady Progress Every Day.’

The concert opened with New Songs from Dongting Lake, which vividly portrayed the beautiful scenery of the Dongting region, with its shimmering waters and rich harvests. The programme also included Little Rabbit, Be Good, Water Splashing, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Battling the Typhoon, Spring Seedlings, Yao Ethnic Dance, and Fisherman’s Song at Dusk. The performance concluded with the lively Harvest Festival Drums and Gongs, celebrating both the joy of harvest and the students’ sense of achievement in their learning.

Since its establishment, Zheng’s Music Studio has been committed to community engagement. Through events like this, the studio aims to provide students with opportunities to share their learning, while also introducing more people to the beauty of traditional Chinese music and the expressive charm of the guzheng.
